Rochester’s ‘Juke Box Hero’ is In The Big Hall!

By Scott Gudell

On behalf of all current and former board members (and volunteers) of the Rochester Music Hall of Fame, we join together to congratulate one of our own – Mr. Lou Gramm – on his official induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

It may have taken over a half century before THE definitive music industry ‘spotlight’ – the one emanating from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on the shores of Lake Erie – finally shined on rock legend Lou Gramm, but he and Foreigner are officially ‘in’ as of the Saturday October 19, 2024 induction ceremony. As long as that arduous wait may have been, others in the Class of 2024 such as Cher and John Mayall had to wait even longer. Regardless, the amazing achievements of these and others in the Class of 2024 have finally been recognized.

Lou and his current band The All Stars, as well as a separate version of Foreigner with a different lead singer, never really stopped playing. Lou was on the road in 2024 performing hits such as “Cold As Ice,” “Urgent,” Juke Box Hero” as well as the song three of the original Foreigner members performed at the ceremony- with the help of Kelly Clarkson and a gospel choir – “I Want to Know What Love Is.” Although Lou and company were eligible for induction over two decades ago and Lou has said “We had some pretty incredible credentials”, he noted that this was the first time they were even nominated let alone inducted. Rochester’s own finally has a key to the front door of one of THE definitive music venues in the world!
